Holy crappola, the summer is almost gone and we have yet to hear our anthems of the summer?

Fret no more music lovers, although I have been a little summer-hummer busy, I have curated a few songs to take a look at in August Tunes.

If you are looking to listen to some of the playlists that I am building, why not check out my DJ Wade profile on Spotify?
Here’s the link if you want to listen along with me.

I should mention, that I actually think Spotify is total shit.
Not in a good way.
From their horrible treatment of artists, to banning people who ask for residuals, and let’s not forget that tech wise, it’s pretty garbage.

My desktop version of Spotify rarely works, and when it does, can take over 30 minutes to load. That’s right, half and hour just to be able to access the template.
Then of course when you try to play a song, it won’t.
As you can tell, I’m still an iTunes guy, and have found a way to transfer Spotify playlists to iTunes so that I don’t have to rely on bad service or connection.
In fact, putting this article together, I had to shut down Spotify 8 times in 20 minutes.
Now that’s a SHIT product!

Anywhoodles, let’s get started on some of the great tracks I can recommend for August 2023.

Miami Baby-Dope Lemon

Aussie rocker Angus Stone set up Dope Lemon after jamming around with some mates on a farm. Well keep jamming guys, because this latest album from Dope Lemon has some truly good bangers on it.
Home Soon has am entrancing mix of cool beats, and great lyrics. I’m a massive fan of the song Home Soon, so it’s great to hear some new stuff from DL!
Slap it on your playlist now!

Manifest-Crystal Fighters

Another new track that recently dropped was ‘Manifest’ from the Anglo-Spanish band Crystal Fighters. Formed in 2007, the group has a pumpy little hit on their hands with this new track, and although it’s short, will get you rocking along with it.

I’ll Wait-Petey

Detroit rocker ‘Petey’ aka Pete Martin has been on fire since his Tik Tok rise to fame since the pandemic. ‘Don’t Tell the Boys’ is still one of those tracks I like to bust out with new friends to have them crank their head to say ‘whoa, who’s this?’
Petey doesn’t disappoint in the toe tapping ‘I’ll Wait’.

Ready or Not-(ft Sierra Ferrell) Shakey Graves

This song might be a year old, but it was by chance that I was flipping around on digital radio and hear this great song. A bit of country, and a bit of Indie is the hallmark of Shakey’s Austin roots, and Sierra just adds that great extra twang to the song.

Maybe October-Dekker

I’m not sure how this Nottingham, UK based artist was able to escape my listening for so long, but again it was a chance listening encounter that led me to source this track.
With great pacing and build, this year old track is a classic indie, driving song.

Pontiac-Rec Hall

This fresh out this week track has some of the pumps of the Strokes, with a bit of Indie slip and slide in it. ‘Pontiac’ by Rec Hall is a toe-tapping, happy song that should make an nice edition to your playlist from the LA based band.
Here’s the track.
