In the age of ‘Insta’, filters and influencers, it’s obvious that not only is intelligence not ‘cool’ these days, but the younger generation almost shies away from it.
There’s nothing wrong with being smart kids. (says the nerd who took beatings when he was younger).

To help you learn a wee bit more in this post, I thought I would also include some fun facts for you to learn, just in case you blow a donut on this quiz, and end up needing some validation to take down to the pub and impress the lads.
Spanish Inquisition
The Spanish Inquisition would write to you, giving 30 days notice before arriving and these were read out during Sunday Mass. Although these edicts were eventually phased out, you originally always expected the Spanish Inquisition.
Diva Fight
Tracy Chapman sued Nicki Minaj for copyright infringement. According to the complaint, Chapman repeatedly refused to give Minaj permission to sample one of her songs, but Minaj did it anyway. Minaj settled and agreed to pay Chapman $450K.

Italian Spies
In WW2, the Italian navy independently broke most of the major powers encryption codes, including their allies codes. They even broke the German enigma code before the British did .
Streaking
Infamous streaker, Mark Roberts, was sponsored by GoldenPalace.com to streak Super Bowl 38. He was paid $1 million, given front row tickets on the 50-yard line, and provided with one of the best defense attorneys in the US who was able to reduce his charges down to a misdemeanor and $1,000 fine.

Guatan STD?
Guatemalans were deliberately infected with STDs between 1945 & 1956 through US government programme. They were kept secret until discovered in 2010 by a college prof. The programme published no findings, did not inform those who were infected nor did it provide them with follow up medical care.
Oregon Code
The game Oregon Trail was developed by 3 college students trying to teach history creatively. The first version was coded in just 10 days in 1971 and played by middle schoolers for 5 days. The code was given to an educational nonprofit in 1974, and the creators never profited from the game.
African Slave Trade
Between the 16th and 18th century, slave ships from Africa raided the Mediterranean and enslaved up to a million people. Sometimes entire islands were captured and taken away. Raids were made on seaside towns of Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, England, the Netherlands and as far away as Iceland, capturing men, women and children. It was so bad that people stopped living on long stretches of coast in Spain and Italy.
Mad King
King George III known as the ‘Mad King’ apparently suffered severe mental illness the majority of his life. He was tied to chairs, gagged, bled, left in freezing rooms to try and ‘treat’ him. In 2005, DNA testing on his hair found extremely high levels of lead and arsenic. Medications he was being given for other ailments sent him insane for a slow likely painful death.

Diamond Nose
A $250,000 diamond placed on the nose of an F1 car was lost in a crash in the 2004 Monaco GP. It’s still missing today.
